Meet Md. Razibul Islam Razib — better known as Razibul Islam Razib — a dynamic scriptwriter, drama director, entrepreneur, and social worker whose name resonates with passion, creativity, and commitment to both culture and community.
Born into a family of honor and deep patriotic values, Razib's roots are a powerful source of inspiration. His mother, Hosneara Begum, and his father, the Late Rafiqul Islam, are revered freedom fighters who fought valiantly in the historic Bangladesh Liberation
War of 1971. Guided by their courage and ideals, Razib has taken it upon himself to carry forward the vision of a secular, inclusive, and prosperous Bangladesh — a dream born of sacrifice and nationalism.
Razibul Islam Razib is a versatile and dedicated figure in Bangladesh’s cultural and creative scene. With over two decades of experience as a Drama Director, screenplay righter and theatre artist, he has made significant contributions to both the stage and screen.
His cultural journey began in 1998 with the group theatre ‘Dhaka Nandanik’ where he emerged as an active and impactful member. Over the years, he has acted in numerous stage productions, directed powerful plays, and penned original theatrical scripts that resonated with audiences.
Razibul Islam Razib's academic foundation in film is equally impressive. In 1999, he earned a diploma in filmmaking from the Dhaka Film Institute, and later enriched his knowledge by attending a course on Modern Filmmaking under Fr. Gaston Roberge, a globally respected film critic. His passion for cinema also led him to a workshop on Abbas Kiarostami, one of Iran’s greatest filmmakers, organized by the World Literature Center in Dhaka.
From 2001 to 2006, Razib worked closely as the chief assistant director to Bipul Raihan, the son of legendary filmmaker Zahir Raihan. This period played a crucial role in shaping his visual storytelling, technical skills, and understanding of the socio-political layers in filmmaking.
Since 2007, Razib has been an independent force in Bangladesh’s television industry, having written and directed a vast number of single-episode dramas and popular serials. His works are known for their realism, emotional depth, and social relevance, earning him numerous accolades and the respect of peers and audiences alike.
He is married to a popular YouTuber and respected theatre artist Shuma Afroze, whose creative talents and presence have added further richness to his life and work. Together, they represent a powerful cultural duo, committed to storytelling, expression, and positive social impact.
In addition to his artistic contributions, Razibul Islam Razib is deeply committed to social responsibility. He is a regular voluntary blood donor and has donated blood 26 times, for which he has received special recognition from the Quantum Foundation. His actions reflect a strong sense of empathy, community care, and dedication to humanitarian values.
Today, Razib continues to explore new storytelling avenues while mentoring young talents and staying actively involved in cultural development. His vision blends artistic excellence with social consciousness, making him a truly inspiring figure in Bangladesh’s creative landscape.
